Art Works Winter 2022
Nasrin Abu Baker's works deal with various bodies and objects, alienated landscapes and symbols. The works on display here were made in Leipzig, 2022,The artist's residence recently.
Abu Baker dismantles spaces and landscapes and reassembles them through simple shapes, industrial materials such as concrete, varnish, raw fabrics and bold lines that are aggressively laid on the wooden surface. Within the resulting territory, it combines various symbols that deal with the encounter of a body with space, which allow it to wander between different potential identities. The bodies, which are alone within the space, are immersed in a kind of inner stillness and reflect on spaces of identity, loneliness and belonging.
